I love the outdoors!

Marathon County has great facilities for hunting, fishing, skiing, boating, and camping — just to name a few! Rib Mountain State Park, the Wisconsin River, and Lake Dubay provide the setting for a wide range of recreational activities year round.

The Wausau area has a long standing commitment to the visual and performing arts. Facilities like The Grand Theater and the Woodson Art Museum rank as some of the finest in the state. The Performing Arts Foundation and its affiliate organizations provide live theater, ballet, concerts, Broadway shows, and more. Attend one of the many events in the area that caters to the arts enthusiast, such as the annual Festival of Arts, the internationally-acclaimed Birds in Art exhibit at the Woodson Art Museum, or stroll the streets of downtown Wausau viewing art during Exhibitour. Or pack a picnic lunch and head down to the 400 Block in Wausau every Wednesday during summer to take in free concerts.
I like Winter!
With so many ways to enjoy it, you'll wish winter lasted longer. Skiing and snowboarding at Granite Peak Ski Area. Tubing the state's longest runs at Sylvan Tubing Hill, and then sitting back in style as you are gently whisked back up the hill on one of the two wire tows. Cross-country skiing at Nine Mile Forest Recreation Area's 30km of groomed terrain. Nearly 800 miles of snowmobile trails to explore. Snowshoeing, ice fishing, ice skating, curling, sledding...whew! It's no wonder that Wausau/Central Wisconsin is The BEST Place to Play in the Snow!
I don't like Winter!
If your enthusiasm for snow stops at how pretty it makes everything look, then you'll be able to take advantage of the other benefits of living in this area. Stretch your legs walking our shopping districts, or take a one-hour vacation at a number of other area spas. Take a seminar at one of the area colleges or join a class offered by the Center for the Visual Arts.

Our central location in the state makes it easy for friends and family to visit. The Central Wisconsin Airport connects the Wausau area to any point in the United States.
